£10,000 target is reached!

Sotheby's have been relentless in their phone calls and words such as grandiloquent, articulate and illuminating have been bandied around as if they were going out of fashion; such was the buzz created at first ever Add Momentum & Friends Charity Skills Auction!

Following on from the epic (and occasionally painful) Rat Race, we realized we needed just a little extra push to reach our fundraising target of £10,000 to give HOPEHIV...

On a warm, dry summer's eve in July, around 40 AML staff and friends gathered in a country garden to bid on lots ranging from karate lessons to a week's holiday in a cottage in Scotland.

As the (now infamous) auctioneers began to find their stride (and the bidders began to find the bottom of their wine glasses) the bidding became impassioned and a laissez faire approach to personal wealth was adopted by all.
As the dark drew in the garden took on a magical appearance, dotted by candle light and the peace only being broken by the shouts of "£50", "£75" and "You're my wife why are you bidding against me?"

The evening was an unbridled success, the gorgeous surroundings and wonderful food only being surpassed by the amount raised. Thank you to all that took part, either their on the night or by telephone bidding.

The total for the evening was £2200 all of which will go to help support the work of HOPEHIV amongst the orphans of HIV AIDS.

This Auction has taken us over our target of £10,000 which enables us to fully support the creation of a Kids Club in Kenya.

This will provide will safe havens where the children may learn to play, make friends, receive support and counseling to cope with the trauma of losing a loved one to HIV/AIDS.

Ultimately, these children are the future of Africa; with education, opportunity and support these children can transform not only their lives but can become part of the solution to the problem of HIV AIDS in Africa.
